To Blogger,
The following mechanism was so much easier last year. Now, I have to send invites and such in order to read blogs (through Blogger). It is so cumbersome (in my opinion) that I'm not sure I'm going to bother. I'm all ready reading everyone in my Bloglines, so I'm content.
Little Librarian
-----------------
In other news, I'm under the weather. Lovely. My goal is to get most of the readings done before I head out to pick up Pandora (of Pandora's Little Box) from work. So far, this doesn't look possible, but that is ok.
I'm currently involved with other class readings so I unfortunately don't have a lot to say about the readings for LIS 2600.
Although, I will say a few comments on Assignment 2. Google Reader, as you saw in my previous post, really gave me a hard time on Sunday. This led me to send two e-mails and wait 24 hours for the issue to resolve itself (and to try a different computer). Surprisingly, the feeds suddenly worked and I learned (bonus) how to export my feeds from Bloglines into Google Reader. This process is nice, except ALL of my feeds (over a hundred) transferred over causing me to erase a lot. I think I understand Google Reader's Sharing of feeds, but I have yet to know if that part is correct or not.
As to Refworks, Scopus, and Google Scholar. These are lovely, lovely tools. Scopus is very helpful in finding information, although, out of habit I may stick to the databases I generally use. We'll see when the next research assignment comes around.
Refworks is plesant. If I had known this was available, I would have used it before but alas, I did not and it also requires pay accounts if I really want to use it. Just before using Refworks, I learned about Noodle Tools which seems to me to work more like I do. Refworks was nice and the exported file worked out well, but I'm not sure about it. Hopefully more use will show how handy it is. My only complaint, in reference to this assignment, was the exporting of Google Scholar searches into Refworks. If I was doing this as an assignment for a research paper, this wouldn't be too bad, but as it was 50 citations took me HOURS to export which annoyed me to no end.
Lastly, I added the Firefox add-ons required today. Zotero is kind of useless at the moment (but I haven't looked into it any more than what it was). Xmarks I enjoy but my main bookmarking thing will stay delicous for now. Xmarks handy "If you like this site, you might like..." was pretty nice. I discovered yet another web comic which I wasted time on. The feature though, I will not mind having.
Back to reading PDFs on my Co-Pilot (aka my eBook reader aka my Palm Pilot).
