Sometimes I do like to listen to audio books and/or podcasts in the car, but I've been remiss(?) over the fact that everything in the syllabus is in .mp4 or .rm which are not file formats I like to deal with (don't own an iPod, like to stay away from Apple products except those I borrow). I've had The Philosopher Musician tell me he'd help convert the files as well as borrow his computer (and BEAUTIFUL iPod Touch). His cousin pointed me in the direction of an online converter.
Here's what I decided to do: I visit the Oxford Site, find the lecture by going through the titles (rather painful) until I can find the lecture and download the .mp3. Currently, I have the audio only downloading and then I can listen to it in the car. It is a win-win situation, except that The Blue Bullet (my MP3 player from the 23 Things Project), is a really stupid MP3 player (I'm sorry. It doesn't work for the reason it was given, music yes, audio books, no). I can't fast forward in the file so if I make it start over, I've lost all that time. In the car, it's not so bad though, but we'll have to see. I wonder how long these files are.
Podcasts are easier for me to listen to while cleaning or driving. I really do hate sitting in front of my computer for hours on end watching videos. First off, I have an uncomfortable chair, paritially on purpose. Second, I have so much work to do and I can only handle so much darning (yes, DARNING) and so much time before I get antsy to clean. I don't have a laptop [yet] so I can't just take it into the room I'm in and play (which I would if I had one).
File is almost done downloading. I'm so glad we finally upgraded our Interwebs (like a year ago...)
