iPod Touch

The Philosopher Musician has an iPod and the other day, he upgraded to OS 3. His first complaint was that it runs slower now than it used to. His second "Semi-complaint" is that the cursor is harder to move around because of copy/paste. Copy/paste is the one of the few reasons he wanted it.

I, on the other, hand miss something in the scrolling feature and hate the "Search iPod" thing that occurs if you try to go past the first or last "screen." (Half the fun for me is just scrolling). I haven't noticed the speed yet, and really, when looking at this article, the differences is only a second (for the most part - The Weather.com app works just fine). For me, this is like comparing loss-less music to regular digital music. No Difference. Yet the Philosopher Musician totally notices the difference. That's a musician for you.

All in all, OS 3 doesn't seem that bad. It is just a matter of preference, like I still prefer my Palm Pilot for a lot of the things the Touch does (the styllus makes it so much easier) and if I look hard enough, I can find what I want. The Palm's apps require a little more digging, especially for the "free ones" since I had paying money for a tiny computer program.

Now, concerning updates, my computer tells me that it needs to update...to IE 8. Um. Not yet Microsoft. I'll do it when work agrees to upgrade.
