- She still reads the news paper. I don't.
- She gets the paper. I go online if I want info.
- The paper gets thinner while online info gets more abundant.
Honestly, I love my grandma, but she complains about technology ("How'd we survive without cell phones?" she asked when I wanted to know where my mom and bro were and when they'd be back so The Philosopher Musician, myself, and Grandma could make dinner plans). She wasn't pleased when I brought The Philosopher Musician's laptop to the living room a few times (so I could be around and do my work). She does have a point though. How did we survive with out this stuff? My cell phone, I'm REALLY curious about. Everything else, I get it.
But, she has a laptop (what possesed my uncle to give her that thing I'll never know-it's junky), a digital camera, a digital camera printing doc, a scanner/printer/copier, and her super duper sewing machine (a Bernina).
The sewing machine is where we differ (surprisingly). I have her old 1960s Singer sewing machine. That thing is a BEAUT. It doesn't automatically thread the thread. It has discs to do designs. It is perfect. She has her new embroider sewing machine with a screen, automatic threading, and it's new. I think that thing is too technical to me. She loves her machine. I love my inherited machine. For sewing, I find simpler (less techonology) is better.
